May’s Community Leader: Norma Wright

It gives us great pleasure to spotlight one of our own.  Norma Wright has faithfully served six years as BBBS’ volunteer bookkeeper. When Norma’s daughter, Danaya Wright, was on the board of directors during a transitional period for the agency, she asked her mom to help out and Norma has been here since!

“I do it because I enjoy it,” Norma said.  “I’m quite impressed by what the organization is trying to do.  It’s a tremendously good program, and I like the people that work there.”Norma has been a tax accountant for nearly 45 years.  As an enrolled agent, she can represent people in front of the IRS.  Her son, John Wright, Jr., is an engineer for NASA.  She and her husband John have lived in Mcintosh for about six years.  John, who enjoys his wife’s cooking, said, “She will probably volunteer for as long as you need her and she’s still kicking.”

Norma encourages others to get involved, especially in working with children.  “Parents don’t have as much time as they used to have,” she said.  “Children need to have adults who care about them and take an interest in their lives.”
