April Spotlight: Erica and Kendrick

Erica and Kendrick celebrate two years as matches

Erica and Kendrick have been matched with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Florida since April 9, 2009 and have every moment since. Erica describes Kendrick as an awesome kid with a lot of energy who loves activities. Erica expressed that what she enjoys the most about being a big sister is that not only does she get the opportunity to teach Kendrick important lessons but he also teaches her a few lessons as well with his funny random facts and advice. “Both Kendrick and I learn from each other because we come from different backgrounds,” Erica said. Kendrick and Erica both love sports, and the common interest has helped them to develop a significant bond.

Kendrick expressed that he loves to have fun with his big sister and looks forward to seeing her each week. The pair has been to baseball and lacrosse games as well as the park and even Sea World. Erica loves the fact that Kendrick never takes anything too seriously (except for sports of course), loves to laugh and is fearless. Kendrick loves the fact that Erica spends time with him and he truly enjoys the time they spend together. “I love my big sister,” Kendrick said. “She’s the best.”
